About Stacey

I am Stacey Zimmels and I'm the owner of Feed Eat Speak. I set it up this company so that I could help families and children to get the help they need when they need it most. I now work independently after almost 20 years in NHS positions. I currently hold an honorary contract the NHS Royal Brompton Hospital in London, having lead their Paediatric Speech Therapy service for the last 8 years. I continue to do some Locum clinical work there as well as clinical research.

I'm one of those really lucky people who get out bed each day and goes to work because I love what I do. Helping you and your little ones is a real pleasure and passion for me (that's honestly true). I understand just how stressful and awful it is to have a child who can't or won't eat. It can often feel like no one is listening and that there is no one out there who can help. It can be very worrying to have a child who is different to their peers and to feel desperately hopeful that they will just 'catch up' but deep down you’re concerned that may not be the case. It's hard to find someone you can trust. If this sounds familiar then contact me. I offer a no obligation, free 15 minute phone consultation where you can discuss any concerns you have and see if your child would benefit from a feeding consultation.

More about me

I'm a qualified Speech and Language Therapist and have been practicing since 2001 when I graduated from De Montfort University in Leicester, UK with a Bsc Hons. Since qualifying I have gained further qualifications in Paediatric Dysphagia (eating and drinking difficulties) and I now specialise in this area. In 2019 I qualified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

I'm also a mum to two little ones and I take great pleasure in learning from them and watching them develop their feeding, eating and speaking skills. In the last five years I've breastfeed to toddlerhood, weaned two babies onto solids, and experienced the joys and mess of baby led weaning. I've dealt with one baby who has refused the bottle and am currently traversing the world of toddler fussy eating first hand. I've heard first words and now listen in awe at the imaginative story telling of my little people.

+ Additional Training

I have undergone additional training in a number of areas which has supported me to develop specialist skills. Some of which are highlighted below:

  • Breast feeding (IBCLC)
  • Reflux
  • Behavioural feeding difficulties
  • Feeding children with neurological difficulties
  • Feeding difficulties in infants and children
  • Cervical auscultation (listening to swallowing with a stethescope)
  • Feeding difficulties in preterm babies
  • Videofluoroscopy Swallowing Study

+ Experience & Achievements

I have a particular interest and highly specialist skills in working with all babies and pre school children with feeding difficulties. Particular areas of interest for me are swallowing difficulties, respiratory feeding issues, feeding difficulties associated with reflux or food allergy and medical conditions.

I work in close liaison with medical and therapy colleagues in a multidisciplinary way in order to provide the best outcomes for the children in support. The Feed Eat Speak speech and lanuguage therapy team will work in liaison with educational settings and professionals.

In addition to my qualifications and above I have made DVD/TV appearances, contributed to book chapters, presented at conferences in the UK and have had posters accepted for international conferences and work published in medical journals. I was also nominated for speech and language therapist of the year.

Stacey Slack: Virtual Assistant and OBM

Hi I’m Stacey and I’m a Virtual Assistant, after working for over 10 years in Television as a production coordinator. I set up my own company All The Admin at the beginning of 2019 and enjoy working closely with small business owners to help them streamline their internal systems and generally bring a little order and peace to their lives.

I have been working closely with Stacey Zimmels and the Feed Eat Speak team since February 2020, assisting with integral administration, marketing campaigns, live webinars and supporting client queries.

As a mum myself, I really see the value of the work that Stacey and the team do and love to be a part of helping other mums get the advice and assistance they need as they start new chapters in their children’s lives.
