The feeding clinic service is provided by Stacey Zimmels, Feeding and Swallowing Specialist Speech Therapist and Paula Hallam, Specialist Paediatric Dietitian. Between us we have 40 years of experience supporting children’s feeding, eating, growth and nutrition.

Stacey’s specialisms include, breastfeeding, reflux and food allergies, swallowing difficulties, medical conditions and prematurity.

 

If your infant or child is having feeding difficulties which may be impacting their growth and nutrition then the feeding clinic may be the right choice for you. 

Consider The Feeding Clinic if your child has:

  • poor weight gain

  • bottle aversion

  • fussy eating

  • limited or restricted food intake

  • food refusal

  • food allergies with associated feeding challenges

  • been advised to start solids before 6 months

  • problems with progressing onto a range of textures of foods

  • problems with chewing and swallowing

  • weaning from nasogastric tubes or other enteral feeding methods

Paula and I will jointly assess your child, the assessment will include:

  • Detailed feeding history via parental questionnaire submitted and reviewed prior to the assessment

  • Assessment of growth

  • Completion of food diary. The nutritional and environmental aspects will be analysed before the assessment and feedback will be given as part of the assessment

  • Oral examination/oral motor assessment (as appropriate)

  • Observation of your child eating and drinking

Together we will provide you with an individualised plan to optimise your child’s feeding and nutrition.

We work with a range of associated professionals and will refer on if required. The other professionals we may refer on to may include…

  • Paediatric ENT consultant

  • Paediatric Gastroenterology consultant

  • Paediatric Allergy consultant

  • Paediatrician

  • Tongue tie practitioner

  • Occupational therapist

  • Clinical Psychologist

I (Stacey) can carry out videofluoroscopy swallow studies if required. 

Fees:

Initial consultation: £375

This can be face to face or online or a combination of both (depending on circumstances). This includes a written report/plan and two weeks email follow up. One hour and 15 minutes is allocated for the appointment. 

Follow up: £170

This will typically be online, although can be face to face if needed. One hour is allocated for the appointment. 


If you have private health care then please enquire if you can use that to cover the Feeding Clinic appointment as both Paula and I are registered with a number of private healthcare providers.
